Kaspersky launches IoT Device  Scanner for 'smart homes'    Kaspersky Lab released a    beta version of its solution  for the "smart" home and  the Internet of Things -  Kaspersky IoT Scanner This  free application for the Android platform scans the home Wi-Fi network, informing the user about the devices connected to it and their level of security. With IoT's increasing popularity, cybercriminals are eagerly looking for ways to take advantage of this growing trend. Instead of making life easier for their owners, smart devices are increasingly becoming a weak link in their security. "We have already seen many devices connected to the Internet fall susceptible to a hack due to software that is used to connect to the web, which ironically is also past its prime. Items compromised range from baby monitors to air conditioners to automobiles. Sadly if something connects to the web, it can be hacked. And there are IoT search eng...

Snapchat Map

Image
Snapchat is using the solar eclipse to show off the real potential of its maps feature Snapchat’s latest feature lets you share your location with your Snapchat friends, and view their location on a map, updating when you open the photo messaging app. When you update Snapchat and get to the Snap Map walkthrough, as seen below, only three screens need to be clicked through to complete it.  Though it mentions sharing your location, it’s vague on what that exactly means.  Users might not understand that Snap is posting your location on Snap Map every time you open the app. Not just when you share Snaps to Our Story. It’s not meant to be a utility the way that, say, Facebook’s friend location feature is. It’s less about helping you get from point A to point B and more about helping users see what other stuff is going on around them and adding context around what their friends are doing.    See this tuto...

MACHINE GUN ON A DRONE :)

Image
A Defence Company put a Machine gun on a Drone Duke Robotics, a military contractor, has produced a video for their unique tool, TIKAD . A custom multi-rotor drone with a chassis on the bottom to hold what looks like stripped down machine gun, sniper rifle, or grenade launcher. A gimbal at the bottom of the drone hold the gun steady as you aim and fire remotely via a video-capable control pad.  TIKAD allows government to utilise completely new capabilities against terrorist groups. This is a type of marketing so as to make it a viral video and they are currently raising funds to build more of these. Duke is saying they are currently in testing with the Israeli army. This product would be dangerous for use in real situations but with bit of engineering and improvement there would be something that could launch launch from a distant location, move in for the kill, and then fly back.  This is an investment strategy, not a final product. www.k93io...

GOOGLE MAPS Q&A

Image
Google brings Q&As to Google Maps Google is launching a new feature for Google Maps for Android and mobile search :question and answer. The feature allows you to ask questions about a place and answer other users' inquiries. When you find a place in Google Maps, you can scroll down in the business' listing and find the new Q&A section between the business' details like phone numbers and the "popular times" widget. Google is also encouraging business owners to use this for an FAQ section, and the company notes that business owners will get a notification when somebody asks a question. With this move- Google is expanding its existing efforts to bring more user- generated content to Maps. This Q&A section is more interactive than its existing offerings, though, and it'll be interesting to see how users- and business- will use it. www.k93iot.blogspot.com http://www.agileinfoways.com
